Why I wake up at 4 am - Lori Glaseman

They say the early bird catches the worm.  Post landscape photography, I was a late riser. The 11 am alarm clock was my speed.  Bed was warm and perfect! WHY LEAVE!? Then, I discovered the miracle of the sunrise along my travels.  Now, it has become an obsession. The thought of sleeping in makes me cringe! Instead of why leave I figure, WHAT WILL I MISS!?  My first true travellers sunrise was in India. Although it was due to a bout of jet lag, it sure inspired me to witness the sun rise from every piece of the world I could manage.  It gets me each and every time from near or far.

When I arrive in a fresh spot, the sunrise location becomes high priority! So, after a impromptu trip to the coast last night for a concert my thoughts instantly turned to the sun.  I had a quick turn over on my road trip and figured the best way to handle the situation was to make the morning count! With tea in hand off I went this morning up Cypress to see what I could discover.  I discovered, I am NOT the only sunrise nerd on Cypress mountain at 4:30 am on a Saturday.  There we all stood, lined up like kids for Santa ... waiting for the magic to happen over the cityscape of beautiful Vancouver.

The early bird catches the shot.
